                                          ABOUT ALOE VERA

Aloe vera is a species of flowering succulent that is indigenous to Africa. There are around 300 different types of Aloe - only five have medicinal benefits. Aloe Barbadensis Miller, Aloe Perryi Baker, Aloe Arborescens and Aloe Saponaria.
       
  Aloe Plant Aloe Barbadensis Miller is the most widely used as well as    being the most potent. Most species have a rosette of large, thick fleshy leaves, and also appear to be stemless.
The structure of most Aloe plants are very similar, it grows to maturity in approximately 4 years at which time the leaves begin to sprout. They taper to a point near the top of the plant and the leaves have soft spines every few inches lining their silhouette. The Aloe Barbadensis Miller has about a 12 year life span.

  The flowers of the Aloe are tubular, frequently yellow,
orange, pink or red and are densely clustered. Many Aloe species are highly decorative and are frequently cultivated as ornamental plants in pots. Usually they are grown outdoors in warmer, drier climates. They vary in colour from grey to bright green and can be striped or mottled.

  Cleopatra Aloe Vera has been used for over 4000 years  by many different cultures around the world. The ancient Greeks, the Romans, the Babylonians, the Indians and the Chinese all used Aloe Vera for it's cosmetic and medical benefits. Cleopatra was reported to have used Aloe as part of her beauty regime and Gandhi was also known to drink Aloe through out his fasting,        
  Imagine slicing open an aloe leaf and consuming the gel straight from the plant (pictured right). By drinking Forevers' Aloe Vera Gel this is as close as you can get. The Gel has a patented stabilisation process and is "essentially identical" to the fresh Gel of the leaf.
